The four IBPS uploads

IBPS recruitment applications, for the PO, Clerk, RRB and SO exams, ask for four separate image uploads. Each has its own file-size range and pixel size, and a form rejects an upload that does not match. The figures below are the ones this page applies.

DocumentPixelsFile size
Photograph200 × 23020–50 KB
Signature140 × 6010–20 KB
Left thumb impression240 × 24020–50 KB
Handwritten declaration800 × 40050–100 KB

These sizes have been stable for several years, but every recruitment cycle publishes its own notification. Check the current one on ibps.in before you submit.

How to prepare each file

  1. Pick the document at the top of the tool (photo, signature, thumb or declaration). The right pixel size and file-size range are filled in.
  2. Drop your scan or photo and check the crop. For the signature and the declaration, crop close to the writing.
  3. Download the JPG and upload it to the form. Repeat for the other documents.

Tips for cleaner scans

  • Sign with a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper. Pale ink and lined paper compress badly and can be rejected as unreadable.
  • Photograph or scan in even light. Shadows and creases add noise that costs file size.
  • Keep the thumb impression clean. Ink the thumb evenly and press once, so the print is clear and not smudged.
  • Write the declaration in your own hand, in the format the notification asks for, and photograph it flat.
  • Do not enlarge a small scan. Start with the best resolution you have and let the tool reduce it.

If your file is too small

Each range has a minimum as well as a maximum. A clean signature on white paper can end up well below 10 KB, and a portal may reject it. The preset includes the minimum, so a small file is saved at a higher quality or topped up to the lower limit without changing how it looks. The principle is explained on the page for increasing an image’s size in KB.

Other exams have different rules. See the full exam size chart, or UPSC, SSC and NEET. Your files are processed in your browser and are never uploaded.
